Improved, more cost-effective Underlord
image
Since the beginning of the Beta, we’ve learned a lot from how you’re using Underlord. Your feedback has shown us both what's working and where we need to raise the bar.
Today we’re to rolling out improvements to Underlord that make it faster, less expensive, and more capable across the board.
You’ll notice more thoughtful edits and stronger responses when using:
Here are a few examples of the kinds of queries where Underlord has improved:
  • Can you create a visual for the highlighted section? Take the information he is saying and make a graph for the audience to understand.
  • Add captions for the first 30 seconds of this video, and make the video fade out for the last 5 seconds.
  • Turn these slides into a narrated video I can post on YouTube.
Better AI-credit efficiency and reasoning
This new version of Underlord is much more efficient when using AI-credits, and better explaining its reasoning, and self-correction:
  • So far in our testing, we’re seeing that it takes about 20% fewer AI credits to fully edit a video before publishing. And we’re not done yet, you can expect additional improvements here soon.
It’s also better at explaining its reasoning and self-correcting its mistakes:
  • You’ll notice Underlord present its initial plan, update you as it’s thinking through its edits, and occasionally pausing to check if it’s on the right track.
Choose the best model for the job
Reminder
: You can also customize the AI-model that powers Underlord depending on your use case. To do so, open the model picker and choose from the latest models from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and others.
  • Choose Claude Haiku 4.5 for an even more economical and faster experience for quick, straightforward edits and text responses, such as
“Add studio sound and fix my eye contact",
Create a Youtube description for my video,”
    or
“Suggest some ideas for how I might improve this video.”
  • Choose Claude Opus 4.5 for the highest-quality (and most expensive) version of Underlord. It’s best for complex, multi-faceted queries where advanced planning and nuanced edits are important.
  • Gemini 3.0 Pro, Claude Sonnet 4.5, and GPT 5.2 each have their strengths and personalities; try them out and let us know which you prefer and why.
If you’ve got an established, fine-tuned workflow with the old version of Underlord, and want to go back, you can temporarily opt out by opening Settings → Labs, and toggling
New Underlord v2
to OFF. This toggle will be available for the next few weeks.
