Ability to easily add annotations, shapes, text, arrows etc. as non-destructive overlays. These are essential for screen recording / explainer and tutorial videos.

I guess the title is self-explanatory, but it would be great if some vector drawing tools were added to create fun shapes on the canvas.

Annotation for video reviews

Currently my reviewers have the ability to comment on the video I share with them. This is great as it marks the timestamp where the edit needs to happen. But it would be great if reviewers had the ability to annotate the videos, especially when it comes to making graphical changes. This would be similar to Techsmith's Video Review .

I wholeheartedly concur. Dscript can do some amazing things that I thought this would be included as a basic feature for screen captures. I soooo need this feature.

There's another thread about text annotations here:
I would like to see a visual editor like miro.com with a full suite of icons, lines, boxes, arrows, etc. Miro.com makes it easy to annotate and enter text and keep the text searchable. I had forgotten about screenflow. So thanks for the tip.
Hope we can get a nice drawing panel added and make it easy to draw perfect lines with rulers and templates, circles, boxes, and perhaps add emoji's and other creative features to the video and type text.
Here's the quick demo of miro: https://webwhiteboard.com/
They have a lot more on their full product: https://miro.com/
I'd like to see the same type of fluid drawing in Descript with an annotation panel that doesn't require constantly picking a tool with command+k. I.e. to draw a bunch of straight lines, I want to pick the line tool, set it to a straight line, pick a color and go to it. Preferably with context sensitive popup menus instead of the huge fly over panels that are currently used for objects.
