THE PROBLEM:
The current trial limitations (very short clip lengths/restricted export) make it impossible to evaluate Descript’s core value proposition: time-saving on a real-world edit. Editing a 30-second clip does not provide a realistic overview of the "correction" workflow, AI transcription accuracy over time, or the actual effort required to clean up a standard video project. I cannot determine if the software is a good fit if I can't see how it handles a meaningful 5-minute edit.
PROPOSED SOLUTION:
Implement a "Single Full Evaluation Project" or a "One-Time Meaningful Export" for trial users.
• Length: At least 5 minutes of footage.
• Quality: Low-resolution (e.g., 480p or 720p) is perfectly acceptable for this purpose.
• Goal: To allow the user to experience the full end-to-end workflow (transcription, filler word removal, and correction) on a standard-length video before committing to a subscription.
WHY THIS MATTERS:
Many professional users are willing to pay for Descript, but they need to see the ROI on a real project first. A 30-second demo isn't a test; it's a teaser. By allowing a low-res, full-length export, you give users the confidence that the tool actually works for their specific needs, which will lead to higher conversion rates from trial to paid plans.
ADDITIONAL CONTEXT:
I am trying to evaluate if Descript handles my specific correction needs and how much manual work is left over on a 5-minute timeline. Currently, I am running into limits and corrections that make it impossible to properly evaluate the software's efficiency.
