Without Descript API, Descript cannot be centralized content Source of Truth. The lack of Descript API is the single biggest fault in the entire the software.

From one PM to another, I'll break this down:

Pain point: 10/10. Impossible to use Descript as Source of Truth. completely destroys my workflow. Descript is my source of truth and starting point. I cannot track content creation.

Workaround: 2/10. Send to Youtube is an end point. Zapier can only pick it up when the video is published, so no post-production tracking. The workaround is to Send to Drive -> pull to Vimeo -> send to Youtube so I can track video production. WOW. Descript cannot be the source of truth. Major opportunity missed.

Impact: 10/10. If any one has a workflow that actually tracks, I would LOVE to hear about it. I can't settle on a functioning workflow.

Affects: everyone but enterprise. Independent content creators = alienated.

Note: I've been using Descript since December 2024 when I started creating content. It is my FIRST editor - I had no real prior experience with Adobe, Final Cut, Vimeo, Capcut, etc. I did move to Capcut for awhile for the ecosystem but came back to Descript because it is more lightweight, better collaboration, better overall, and gets 80% of the goal accomplished with 20% of the work. I need that API brothers..
