I would like a simpler way or AI to overlay mic audio and separate video
I have to manually add them into a sequence, line it up, edit it when there is a lag in the video/audio. Then once it is lined up I mute the video audio so it seems like the mic audio replaces it.
It takes a very long time and is a major computer crashing process.

I record videos of people who are mic'd up. I'd love to replace that video audio with the microphone audio within Descript.
Currently, I have to go into my video editor, align the microphone audio to the existing audio, delete existing, render, then upload to descript for editing.
Is there a feature that does this?

I concur with other commenters here. It would be incredibly useful to have a feature like Davinci's auto sync that could automatically sync an external mic with the camera audio.

Many editing software have this where they look at the waveform and automatically sync up audio and video tracks because I use external mics that record their own audio and the camera has its own audio.

We need a feature to auto align audio and video clips based on waveform or timecode just like other editing tools. I record my audio into my RODECaster Pro II as well as Riverside when recording podcasts with guests. The audio exported out of the RCP is always better than the audio on Riverside. But, when I bring the clips into Descript I have to spend several minutes manually aligning them.

Hey! The help team offered me several links and eventually Marcello tried on Office Hours, but no dice. What I am looking for is the ability to voice over a short section of script, leaving the original video intact but replacing the audio. It can be done by introducing the new audio as a sound file, lining it up manually, and then detaching/deleting the original audio, but the new audio does not become part of the script in this manner.

Sometimes I'm importing a video recorded elsewhere, and the audio is out of sync with the video, ie there's a lag. It would be great to be able to fix this with a simple AI tool rather than having to manually edit in the timeline
