Auto-detect multiple takes (game changer)
Propane
This could be huge: If descript could detect when a similar sentence is said 3-4 times (i.e. multiple attempts at the same line) and automatically highlight and delete the first 3, leaving only the final one.
i.e.
'People say that facebook advertising is dead, but..
[TAKE 1 - DELETE]
people say that... [TAKE 2 - DELETE]
often people say that facebook advertising is dead, but this is... [TAKE 3 - DELETE]
People say that facebook advertising is dead, but this comes from a fundamental misunderstanding of the economics of auctions. [CORRECT, KEEP]

Feedback: AI for removing bad takes
Roderick McKinley
I just tested the remove bad takes feature. It would be revolutionary if done well - thank you for working on it. 🙏
However, I decided not to use it as it stands.
If you can bias AI to keep last good take (which is often the one which is chosen manually). Or read in any preprepared scripts to improve accuracy, this would improve the result.

I have been using the AI to do this (it's an option now) and it is buggy, but sometimes helps a little. Still combines takes instead of using the last take even when told. Also misses takes or edits out key parts of sentences.

I tried using the new AI assistant to remove bad takes and then apply those edits to the script. It worked okay, but would often either miss takes or cut out parts of the final take. It took a few prompt iterations to get it, but then you can apply it. Ideally they would build this in as a shortcut in the AI assistant menu with better take identification

Colin L: One way would be if it could highlight them and give the user the option of removing, just like with filler words.

Propane: It actually just tells you the output after editing then you click “apply edits to composition” and it does them for you. I haven’t tried with a large composition yet

Looks like there is a tool called Gling https://www.gling.ai/ that does this - hopefully the descript team consider it!

That would be awesome.

Outtake detection (adding for searchability)

One option: even if in the transcript, if repeated bits of text are spotted to run through a wizard that says 'suspected outtake' and quickly lets you KEEP or DELETE

About 50% of my workflow involves deleting bad takes. If these were automatically identified / highlighted in some way, I could breeze through editing much faster.

Charlie Harding: Same here! Side note, do you find that little silent clips are left when you remove word gaps from multiple takes? https://feedback.descript.com/feature-requests/p/when-removing-word-gaps-little-silent-clips-are-left
John M
Charlie Harding: Yes! I was literally typing in this suggestion and this thread came up. That's the same for me: scrubbing through and deleting bad takes. This would be game changing.
Charlie Harding
Propane: I've never used this feature, should try it
