Auto-fill CAPTION GAPS (without changing audio/video

Please add an easy feature to "close gaps" on timeline (outside the current one that closes gaps by cutting video/audio). By that I mean, when selected, it would automatically close the gaps (the bits like 1.0s, 0.4s, 0.2s, 0.4s, 3.0s etc) by increasing the word immediately to the left of each gap to fill it (again, without cutting video/audio - just lengthen the caption). Would be awesome if there was an option to auto close gaps once timing amendments have been completed, as currently im going through and doing manually.
I still need to keep entirety of the audio content as I still sync it back with other elements when i put back in premier.... hence meaning the captions only.

I have the same issue when uploading .vtt files to Adobe Captivate -- The gaps cause Captivate to insert "no audio" text everywhere there's a gap. Please allow an option to close the gaps if not in the editor, then in the export. Just a simple toggle in the export that when turned on will copy the beginning time of every caption to the end time of the previous caption on export.
