Create a feature that would use GPT-3 or a custom language model to automatically cut long-form podcasts into shorter 20-60 second clips for TikTok and YouTube Shorts. This feature would be incredibly complex and maybe even impossible to create, but would be imperative in making Descript the go-to platform for creating high-quality audio content for YouTube and TikTok clips. With this feature, podcast creators would be able to quickly and easily generate auto clips that are engaging, entertaining and captivating, while still retaining the essence of the original audio. This would make Descript the perfect platform for podcast editors who are looking to create audio content for YouTube and TikTok.
By utilizing GPT-3 and other custom language models, Descript could become the number one podcast editing platform for anyone. This feature would be incredibly complex and maybe even impossible to create, but would be imperative in making Descript the go-to editing platform for podcast editing.
The feature would easily cut lengthy audio files into shorter, more manageable clips for various social media platforms. It would also help to create more engaging and entertaining videos for the likes of TikTok and YouTube Shorts, as the audio would be ready-made and edited accordingly.
Considering the complexity of creating such a feature, it is likely to be an incredibly time consuming and difficult process. However, the potential benefits that this feature could have for Descript are undeniable. Not only would it help to make podcast editing easier, but it could also help to engage more people with Descript’s service.
By implementing a feature such as this, Descript would become the leading podcast editing platform. It would help podcast creators to easily create short form content that is engaging, entertaining and captivating, while still retaining the essence of the original audio. It would also help to make Descript the go-to platform for anyone wanting to create high-quality audio content for a range of social media platforms.
These two companies already have this working. Why not Descript too?ChopCast(https://www.chopcast.io/) and AudioLabs(https://www.audiolabs.io/)

We shipped a Create Clips and Create Highlight Reel workflow in v91 that should address the bulk of this request, including auto selecting clips, and applying templates/formatting with a single click: https://help.descript.com/hc/en-us/articles/21908859003277-Repurpose-Actions
If there are more specific elements to this version of the feature that you would like, it's best to create a Feature Request for the desired functionality.

This is being done by more and more apps - e.g. Opus.pro and Riverside.fm
This is really a killer feature.

Heck yeah, this would be amazing. A good and maybe simple way to do it would be to generate automatic highlights.
So Descript analyzes a script with AI and highlights the text that could potentially be short form video. This way, a user can review the highlights and manually create new compositions for short form videos based on those AI generated highlights.

Great idea. I hope descript correspond japanese language.

I have used opus clips for the is a few times, but it can't figure out what to show on the screen if I put my video on the right side. So I am just doing this manually with descript. I have been runninng it through opus to see what chunks it pulls out, but it's not a great solution and still takes time.
I think this is a nice idea. If you connect GPT-3 into the transcript, even just having it highlight the key text, it will make the cut for tiktok and shorts much easier and wouldn't be complex since everything can be edited via the transcript, you could just toggle off all the "not highlighted" video and you have your short. Then, we just need an easy way to shift the elements to work with a vertical view and it's done... I think this is harder, but there are already tools that can remember window positions across displays... probably already a library that would do this that would make this easier to implement... this too could be a toggle (widescreen or portrait). This would be so killer. I too would pay more for this feature because if you don't have it, I'll have to pay another SaaS tool. It just takes too much time to do all the work manually and there are tools that make it easy.

Even if we can do this outside descript and just paste in or import the right format for descript to understand the changes to the script, that would be awesome.
And even more awesome if it can be somehow linked to the overdub feature, so sentences can be summarized with adding in minor changes

Rein Baarsma: This would be excellent

I would pay extra just for this

This would be awesome. Even v1 could be generating chapter markers for the video https://feedback.descript.com/descript-classic/p/automate-markers-to-chapters-for-youtube

Propane: Can you do it now?
