Batch delete strikethrough
shipped
Avi Glijansky
Would be great to be able to batch delete everything that's struck through in a comp or selection the same way we can with filler words.
I'll preview edits with strikethrough, but then like to delete what I'm not using so that I end up with a clean transcript/script view and manually deleting the struck through bits is a bummer.

Delete ALL Strikethrough text

If there is a lot of strikethrough text throughout the composition that you want to delete, i want to be able to delete it all at once instead of clicking on every single section to delete

‘Remove All’ needed for AI actions

David Liu
Currently, the UX for the AI actions when removing some text results in a lot of text with strikethrough. And this would be a fantastic value add, except that you have to accept every. Single. Change. Individually.
So AI actions is basically rendered useless for this reason, taking more time than it saves. Instead, it would be better if once AI suggests changes, one could just click a ‘Accept Changes’ or ‘Remove All’ function to easily accept all of the AI suggestions.

AI assistant

AI assistant is pretty much useless. I tried to ask it to do stuff like deleting selected captions or replacing them and it does nothing or just messes things up.

Remove Retakes needs next/prev/auto-advance/skip/apply etc.

Unlike the other AI editing tools, Remove Retakes just gives you a long script with strikethrough. Not even grayed out. You have to scroll and visually catch where the proposed edits are. Then accept or reject all of them. The other tools have a much nicer UI. Remove Retakes needs this to be usable.

Deleting ignored text

I'd like to duplicate a composition, but have the duplicate DELETE all the material which is IGNORED in the original composition. In other words, how can I batch-delete all the ignored material in a composition, so that I don't have to do it one phrase at a time?

This is done. Make a selection, open the Conductor (command K) and type "Remove Ignored Text."

Andrew Mason: If we had a replace with gap clips options it would be wonderful. Especially helpful when exporting to final cut pro or adobe for re-import and alignment to timelines there. This allows me to make cuts in my video and other elements to match up with those made in Descript using the gap clips as a guide.

This would help us generate clean captions after a long production cycle..
This is what we do--->
--
Used to do: --->
Someone on our marketing team highlights the sections that we want.. and we can export/copy all of those highlights into a new composition which accomplishes the same thing. However, that isn't optimized for editing and post production.
Now we: ---->
We are doing now is using strike throughs as well so the post production editors receive access to Descript. Within side of Descript they are able to fine-tune the edits (adding or removing text to get a better edit).
What we need: --->
What would be great is a an export plain text without the strike-throughs which we would then Sync to the final video so we can generate accurate closed caption files.

Even better if you could turn them on and off so you could see what you cut for those time when you wonder why something sounds weird.

Oh yes...could also be a "copy all non-crossed out" so I could just paste clean into new comp
