I’d like to suggest a built-in numbers counting animation feature.
The idea is to allow creators to easily animate numbers counting up or down over time. This would be ideal for showing things such as money increasing, view counts, subscriber growth, percentages, or any other numeric value that needs to change dynamically on screen.
At the moment, this kind of effect requires complex workarounds in tools like Adobe Premiere. Here’s an example showing how it’s done there: https://youtu.be/i9syvOdnJ5Y?t=179
. While this works, it’s difficult, time-consuming, and not practical to replicate inside Descript. Having this as a standalone, native feature would remove that friction entirely.
The animation should allow users to define a starting number, for example 0 or 100, and an ending number, such as 10,000. It should also support reverse counting, where the number counts down instead of up, for example from 10,000 to 0.
There should also be an intensity or speed control that defines how fast the number changes over time. This would make it easy to create anything from smooth, subtle counting to fast, high-energy animations depending on the context.
This feature would be especially useful for explainer videos, social media content, product demos, and any video where numerical change or growth needs to be communicated clearly and visually.
