Convert video's audio to mono

Hard to tell from OP if they mean on export, which can be done via local download and advanced settings, or on imported video files which is my issue.
Right now if you increase speed of a video, even to 1.1x and you audio is recorded on a single channel, the audio gets distorted. Even at 1x, you would want to hear the project as you intend as you are editing and not have to render and export to then hear it correctly.
When you add video file to the project, there should either be a checkbox option or setting where you can say to convert audio to mono. The feature is already built into Descript, since it can do this on export. Then file t added to composition would be based on the mono audio. There also should be an option in the 3 dots menu of the file "Convert Audio to Mono" so this way it can be done after, in case not done up front.

checkbox: make a audio of the video clip mono

that would be very useful, it happened to me several times to have a video recording in stereo, only on the left side right side. Other video editors, like camtasia have a simple checkbox that converts the whole clip into mono with a single no hassle click

Would still love to see this happen and not have to do a workaround. If you can convert audio files, why not video?

Yes, there could be a Stereo-Mono button in the Sequence Editor on each track. That would be very helpful when SquadCast guest audio is captured in stereo with their voice only heard in the left channel.
