Cut pulling using externally edited transcripts
Rob S
I am working on one of the biggest podcasts to launch this year. We have over 30 guests all of whom are transcribed in DScript.
Our editors are mostly journalistic and so want to edit in Word or the like. They are taking transcripts, editing them and creating a show.
This is really laborious in DScript partially because it is so slow and partially because some of our interviews are over 4 hours long and 5 track multi-tracks.
What I would love to be able to do (and it strikes me that your Import Transcript routine basically does it) is to bring back in an edited transcript that just contains the clips we need.
Following on from that I could export an AAF to Pro Tools and voila I have all my clips.
I tried it today and it doesn't work. The script imports (in this case two paragraphs) but it isn't linked to the audio - even though the text I uploaded had timecodes in it.
Any chance you could make this work - like soon? The world would love you!

Edit composition transcript externally, or with AI

I would like to export the transcript of the composition (already possible), edit it with an external tool (conforming to the format), and then re-import it back such that the composition is re-arranged.
I cannot find how to do this now, since I can only replace transcript for a single file. Instead, I want to replace transcript for the entire composition, and have the sections re-arranged accordingly.
Example :
I have 3 speakers (1, 2, 3) plus interviewer (0), and 2 questions for each (a, b), each with its own answer. So my transcript looks like:
/
@interviewer: Question 1 a?
@speaker1: Answer 1 a.
@interviewer: Question 1 b?
@speaker1: Answer 1 b.
/
@interviewer: Question 1 a?
@speaker2: Answer 1 a.
@interviewer: Question 1 b?
@speaker2: Answer 1 b.
/
@interviewer: Question 1 a?
@speaker3: Answer 1 a.
@interviewer: Question 1 b?
@speaker3: Answer 1 b.
---
Now I want to edit this with an AI tool, that would group answers together (because in my case there's a lot more text and answers and questions). Since I don't see how to do it with Overlord, I would like to use an external AI tool with the transcript. So I obtain a result like:
/ @interviewer: Question a?
/ @speaker1: Answer a.
/ @speaker2: Answer a.
/ @speaker3: Answer a.
/ @interviewer: Question b?
/ @speaker1: Answer b.
/ @speaker2: Answer b.
/ @speaker3: Answer b.
It would save a lot of time if we could import this new transcript for the entire composition and have it cut and re-ordered as needed.
Thanks !

I would loooove this feature. We typically make strikethroughs on our transcript and send to clients for them to review the strikethroughs. They either add or remove some of them before sending back and then we cut all the strikes.
Because the clients typically need to use approved software, we're usually stuck using Microsoft Word or Google Docs and can't invite them to Descript.
So having to manually add new strike throughs to the descript transcription is time consuming.
