I create YouTube videos and switching to transcript-based editing has completely changed the way I edit. Being able to edit my videos through the transcript is one of the biggest reasons I continue using Descript.

I create faceless spiritual content, primarily pendulum readings. My videos range from simple YES/NO readings to much longer alphabet readings where messages are spelled out letter by letter. These videos require a unique editing workflow that I believe many other creators would also benefit from.

One of the most repetitive parts of my editing process is speeding up sections where the pendulum is swinging while muting the audio.

Currently, every time I need to do this I have to:

I repeat these exact steps dozens of times in a single video.

I would love to see editable Clip Presets that could save multiple properties at once.

For example:

5x Silent

4x Silent

3x Silent

With one click, the preset would apply every saved property to the selected clip.

I think this could go even further by allowing users to create their own custom presets that save any combination of clip properties, such as:

This would eliminate repetitive editing for countless creators.

I also frequently apply the same transition throughout my videos. It would be amazing to choose a default favorite transition and assign a keyboard shortcut to apply it instantly instead of opening the transition menu each time.

Another idea would be allowing creators to save reusable text styles and animations as presets that can be inserted with a single shortcut. For creators who repeatedly add on-screen text, this would be a tremendous time saver.

I truly believe features like these would make Descript stand out even more from traditional editors because they focus on reducing repetitive work instead of simply adding more features.
