Hi Team, as I work in IT, I thought I would make your job easy! See below, as I have done some work for you already.
This enhancement request is for a new feature that would allow users to set Australian English as their default language for all future transcriptions. Currently, the system only allows American English, which creates extra editing work for Australian users. The proposed solution involves adding a language preference option in the user's settings, which, once saved, would automatically apply the Australian English model to all new files, saving users significant time and effort.
User Story: Australian English Transcription Preference
User Story:
As a Descript user, I want the ability to set and save my transcription language preference to Australian English, so that I can reduce the time I spend editing transcripts.
Acceptance Criteria:
Given I am logged into my Descript account,
When I navigate to my user preferences or settings,
Then I should see an option to select a default transcription language.
Given I have found the language preference setting,
When I view the list of available languages,
Then "Australian English" must be an option to select.
Given I have selected "Australian English" as my preference,
When I save my settings,
Then my default transcription language is permanently updated on my profile.
Given my default transcription language is set to "Australian English",
When I upload a new file for transcription,
Then the system automatically applies the Australian English language model without me needing to select it again.
Given a new transcript has been generated,
Then I can see a clear visual indicator (e.g., a tag like "AU") confirming that the Australian English model was used.
Given I have set my preference,
When I log out and log back in,
Then my preference for Australian English remains saved.
