Improved quality

I have the most problems with descript's built in recorder - it's unusable because of dropped frames, errors, non-transcribed segements, etc. My suspicion is that the demands of real-time transcription are interfering, but I can't be sure.
In general, it would be great to actually be able to use descript to record, instead of the patchwork of other solutions I'm forced to use now for 4k, without dropped frames.

I just want a recorder that doesn't lag and get low frame rate.

I record Youtube videos that range from 10-60 minutes. I publish 3 per week, use my iPhone as a webcam and sometimes I record the screen too.
I'm almost switching to OBS (which I'd hate because too many settings) because I constantly have to restart my Macbook M2 to record a new video because the recorder lags and gets into low frame rate.
I know it's now the camera because on OBS it works wonderfully. It shouldn't be my laptop either because (1) I have 16GB of RAM and it lags with just 12GB being used (according to the Activity Monitor), (2) This is a problem that started happening fairly recently -- old versions of Descript didn't have this issue, and (3) other recording software present no such issue.
It's quite dumb that the recorder is so heavy on the system, because honestly if I don't record natively, I can't see myself uploading a recording to this piece of software just to edit. It's also dragging my productivity because of the constant restarting I need to do on my machine so that I can record a new video.
Useful to say that I close and reopen Descript after each video recorded (at which point it's usually using 4-5GB of RAM), which is dumb in itself because why does it keep using RAM even after processing my last video.
Anyway, I've used Descript for years and I am about to churn because of this simple thing. Only thing keeping me as a customer is that I need to spend a few hours learning OBS before I cancel my subscription. So far it wasn't worth it for me, but my guess is I'm wasting about 3 hours/week with this issue, so yeah...

Improve recording please

I love Descript's editing features but compared to Riverside's remote recording capabilities, Descript needs improving fast! My recordings have been glitchy, audio keeps cutting out, and it's just been a very low quality output, even for very short recordings, with full CPU usage only on the Descript app with all other tabs and applications closed down. Please please improve it somehow - if Riverside can do it, so can you!
