Descript purports to edit video by editing text – in every text editor and word processor that I ever used, Find and Replace work the same way. If the Find utility can find something, the Replace utility can change it. Correct will not correct repeated words that are separated by an edit mark or an unrecognized word but Search will find them. This was a major problem for me in a recent project where the interviewee stuttered so I had hundreds repeated words separated by a filler word.

I'm told by yr support that a work around is to flatten the text after removing common filler words and then removing repeated and less common filler words. Haven't tried it yet but flattening is a bit tedious.

You really should treat this as a bug fix and not a feature request. If text editing is a feature of your product, then u should act like every other text editor :-)
