We're marking this one Shipped as this is in the product now, and not going anywhere. The feature is still in Labs as we continue to make improvements: https://help.descript.com/hc/en-us/articles/38045218292877-Upload-media-from-your-phone-to-Descript

I provide UX audits so overall a Descript app would be epic but even the option to record tapping through an app with audio would be amazing. Loom does this; you guys could do it better.

Mobile Upload is now available under Labs as an early access feature. After turning it on you should see the option to upload to mobile within your projects.
We're looking for feedback on the upload flow, and upload stability on different mobile devices.
Please test and share your experience with us!

PM Team at Descript Hey Team
Ideally this feature would allow one to click on one link from a mobile home view, which would take you directly either to an upload to media library
or it would open your workspaces; you could directly create a new project and then hit the upload button.
It seems more convenient to upload directly into a project so Descript can get to work straight away once the upload is complete. Ideally you could choose from a default prompt for example social media reel, shorten word gaps, add overlay text etc.
That way on-the-fly if you make a quick video in the workshop or wherever you might be, you can jump into Descript create a new project hit upload and select the default prompt that you want Underlord to use and then put your phone back in your pocket and carry on working.
Once back at the computer for example where I do most of my editing anyway I could quickly jump in and review what it's done and export.

Here is a very basic presentation of what I would recommend.
- Inside your workspace you have a plus button for a new project which you can name straight away.
- Once inside your project you can hit the plus icon to make a upload from your mobile
- The option to use a default prompt for example as mentioned shorten all word gaps add in subtitles and overlay text.
Would be a huge bonus so that once upload finishes Descript gets to work straight away and when your finished doing whatever work you were recording You would get back into the office for example jump behind the desktop review it and be able to send it straight out and post it
Screen shots attached below for my above suggestion.
The ultimate solution would be as follows.
Even better would be a new project creation link.
How this would work, it would basically function out of whichever workspace you're working on, you could save this link as a shortcut on your android or iphone On the home screen, after you've made a recording in the workshop or wherever you might be, you hit that link it opens up a new project in Safari or Google Chrome on your mobile, you give it a name, you select from a default prompt you would like it to use to tidy up the video, you select the video you want to upload. Job done!

I was going to add this feature, but I see it's already been requested. So I second, third, and tenth this suggestion!

Simple way to upload from mobile

I would like to record on my iPhone and directly upload to a project on Descript. I can do the editing on my laptop. No problem. But it is a hassle recording on my phone and then transferring to my MacBook and uploading from there. Peace! Thanks.

I am using my mobile phones for recording and it would be easier to upload the media straight from the phone. Please create a web interface that works better with mobile browsers to allow better and faster upload from portable devices.

I would love the ability to upload videos directly from my iphone into my Descript account so I can access it on my desktop for editing.
