Multicam: Automatic switch of videos based on speaker

When importing two video files from an interview Descript could automatically show the video of the person who is currently speaking.
At the moment Descript only shows one video. The manual switching by splitting clips and editing the Multicam setting could be automated and would save a lot of time!

It would be nice to be able to have the option to select "automatic multi-cam" to where it can give you the choice between making it active speaker only, widescreen two person camera, or be able to switch between both to give some variety to the video. Some people like having it to where it switches off between two speakers on screen at once (when there's cross-talk) and one speaker on screen when one person is talking for a long time at once.

Video based Multicam support

It would be great if Descript can figure out who's speaking based on just the video of each camera angle instead of clean audio tracks for corresponding multiple camera angles. I have three camera angles for my podcast,
- guest 1
- guest 2
- middle camera angle
Unfortunately, in my case the audio for guest 1 and guest 2 has mic bleeds.
Alternatively, since speaker labels get assigned, if the camera angle and speaker label was same I am not sure why camera angles cannot be switched on camera angle and speaker label equivalency.
Thank you

Speaker Label based Multicam support
Kenan Azam
Since speaker labels via transcribed audio get assigned, then if the camera angle and speaker label was same I am not sure why camera angles cannot be switched based on camera angle and speaker label equivalency. It seems like a good workaround.
Unfortunately, in my case the audio for guest 1 and guest 2 has mic bleeds, so if I can rename camera angles = speaker label , it essentially can tell Descript on how to do camera angle switch.
Thank you

Speaker Mode in Video

When I import the video I can hear everyone, but only see me. I would like the option to have the video switch to whoever is speaking.

Hi, after creating a podcast using squadcast, I'm able to use a template of both scenes at once or to change one scene for the other. Please create a template that alternates between all three. Meaning, sometimes it will show one speaker at a time and then switch to also both. This will help tremendously with visual pacifiers.

Need this for the new Descript Timeline too

I would really like to see this work with decoupled audio from video. Our videos are typically created from Squadcast or live recordings where we have an uncompressed WAV file and a video file. I'd love for the multicam speaker switching to automatically associate the name of the speaker in the audio file with the video file and choose the right video file. Right now automatic multicam assigns the audio file as the video, resulting in a black screen.

This would be cool if there was a way to turn on at different points on the timeline if you want 1) Speaker video full screen 2) Non speaker video full screen 3) Split screen with both people 4) and options in case there are say 5 speakers on a zoom call.
