Persistent Workspace State: Remember Panel Sizes and Timeline Height
Joe Buchmann
Currently, Descript resets the internal UI layout to default values every time the app is launched. For users on high-resolution displays (like 4K), the default panel sizes—especially the Timeline height and Sidebar width—are often inefficient.
I have to manually resize the Timeline and Script panels every single morning to reach my preferred "working state." Please update the app to remember the last-used dimensions of all internal panels (Script, Canvas, Timeline, and Sidebars) across sessions. This would eliminate the daily setup friction for power users.

Persistant timeline
Michael Marchment
Please, PLEASE, have an option so the timeline is always visible. I can't see any setting for this, so could it be added as an option to be persistent and stay there at all times, not minimised?
This never used to be a problem, and now it's forever hidden.
A big UX problem, too, is that multiple location options are hidden in the desktop app. Why is this the case? Why are there 2 'View' options, both with entirely different options?
Also, the audio sizing on the timeline should retain what I last chased, or be an option to persist. I really despise UI/UX that never remembers the changes I make in the workspace.
What I mainly use Descript for is the "studio audio" feature, nothing else (It's definitely first in its class), so I don't need transcription or anything. I wish I could easily turn this off and have it off forever because I don't need it. I'm sure having this as an option could be a potential server bandwidth saver, too, not transcribing everything that comes through. I liked the prompt before asking how many speakers there were, but there was no option to opt out of transcribing. Why?
