Every single template, layout, and streamlined feature is built for landscape content—completely ignoring portrait editors like me. I only edit vertical video, and the workflow is frustratingly inefficient. This needs to change.

If you care about creators who edit for TikTok, Reels, and Shorts, PLEASE HELP and push for proper portrait video support!

I love using Descript for video creation via ChatGPT, but I’ve noticed that the current AI-generated videos are only available in 16:9 landscape format. Since most short-form content platforms (Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts) require 9:16 vertical videos, it would be incredibly helpful if Descript could generate videos in that format as well.

Right now, resizing a 16:9 video to 9:16 after creation doesn’t work well because the visuals get cropped or don’t fit properly. Having native 9:16 support would make it much easier to create short-form content without extra editing steps.

Is this something that’s on your roadmap? I’d love to see this feature added! Thanks for considering it.

Ability to record vertical video directly in Descript using Editor recorder or Quick recorder.

When I use Continuity Camera to film, it continues to capture a 16:9 frame instead of allowing the frame to rotate to 9:16. This means if I'm filming short-form content, I have to film the content separately on my phone, then upload to Descript. It would make it so much easier if I could just record right into the script, and I would have access to both Descript's recording tools and Continuity Camera's customizations.

Currently I've been able to do it by connecting my Shure mic directly to my Iphone, using that app to record, then moving it to my computer and into Descript to be able to edit vertical videos. I want to do it for IG / social posts (vertical video). Thanks guys for all the awesome work!!

For use on cellphones, TikTok etc, vertical videos (and images) would be nice.
