Remote Overdubbing
Delete
My team and I have tried to create an Overdub for two clients who are remote. They record 30-minutes of the main script Descript provides, share their audio files with us, and we upload these files as training for the creation of their Overdubs. Then, they send an audio files with their consent and we play the audio into Descript when prompted for consent/ Voice ID.
However, their Overdubs are never successfully created despite their audio recordings being quite clear and their Voice IDs matching that of their training script recordings.
As a back-up method, we have to give them temporary access to our Descript account and train them on how to record for their Overdub. However, this process can be difficult for clients without a lot of technical proficiency or enough time on their hands.
My team and I would definitely appreciate an easier way to allow remote clients to create an Overdub voice and provide remote consent. The inability to do so easily has delayed our projects significantly.
Additionally, because their Overdubs have failed to be created, we have to ask that our clients rerecord the 30-minute script which is not always possible for them to complete on time for us due to their busy schedules.
We enjoy using Descript and the Overdub feature for our projects, so we would hate to be forced into looking for an alternative.

+1. We do a lot of interview & case study production work across Europe and Overdub is a great tool.
The issue we're finding is the overall workflow: we record the footage, create the voice and can only then record the training voice consent.
We can record the consent speech as part of the interview production, (obviously hoping that the waiver text won't change by the time we get into post-prod) but a more seamless way to do this would be welcome.
