Editing Waveforms
P
Pablos
I miss the range tool. Worse, editing timelines is inconsistent between sequences and compositions. It is a huge pain in the ass now to edit the waveforms in the multitrack sequence mode because you have to click on the timeline on the top, then go down an click on a track, then press S, then make edits. Before, with the range tool, I could just click and drag on a range and delete. How is the new behavior supposed to be better?

Roll back the June 27th releawse please
Anastasia Ushakova
Inquiry:
Hi, I wanted to share some feedback on the June 27th release.
Is it possible to bring back the blade tool? The new split tool isn’t intuitive for me. I really dislike that it automatically splits the footage into new scenes. Often, when I cut footage, I don’t want it broken into separate scenes, as I have scene specific layouts or editing—I just want to remove a redundant pause.
Overall, I find the new release very unintuitive. I’d appreciate it if you could consider reintroducing the blade tool and reverting the scene logic to how it worked before.

PLEASE UNDO LATEST UPDATE
Jennifer Saarbach
The most recent update makes it so that I can't split the timeline anywhere except the current playhead while using the hand drag tool. This is destroying my productivity. Loved how everything functioned before this update. Thank you!

Provide easy method to edit timeline

In the previous version of Descprt, I could highlight a portion of the timeline to cut it out be holding the shift key and moving over the portion that I wanted to cut out. Now I need to go through a clumsy process of "Split Clip" as the start and the end of the portion that I want to cut and then press the delete key. Please provide the old ability back to the new version

Re-add Scene Deletion to timeline

Christian Daugstrup
Recent update to Descript removed scene deletion by dragging scenes on the timeline. I think that was a valuable and efficient way to edit on the timeline. Please consider adding this feature back. This was especially useful for multi-cam editing, and correcting "Scene Detection by Active Speaker".
If there was a large issue of users accidentally doing so, maybe add an undo button on the "Scene Deleted" notification? I don't think this feature should have been removed when the undo button could fix any errors.

Are you using the Blade tool, or the Range tool? The nice Range editing method you mention still exists, but you might have switched to the Blade tool by pressing the B key. The toolbar with the options shoud be visible above the track editor
