A few times now when I've tried to resize the timeline, I've accidentally clicked a new spot in the composition, jumping to a different place from where I was editing. It's quite frustrating when it happens as I have to deduce where I had just been to pick up the edit.

A simple fix would be moving the progress bar below the "Record / Play / Playback Speed / Split" buttons to separate them a bit.
