Silence filler words, but don't delete the gap--option to shorten gap to retain natural pauses in speech

Instead of deleting filler words, I would like the option to silence the audio during filler words in order to keep the natural pauses in speech. Optionally, if those pauses are very long, I would like to shorten those filler word silences to a maximum length to avoid unnaturally long pauses.

Minimium Gap Between Segements When Cutting Out Filler Words

Often when removing filler words... The two words which are now spliced closer together are right on top of each other. It would be nice if there were an option to leave a gap clip between those words of X. (Maybe .25 seconds by default)

I would love to be able to set something that would be the maximim gap length. If the max gap length is 1 sec and the guest pauses 10 secs it would truncate the pause.

Another issue is that the video cuts are evident, whereas silencing the filler word may go completely unnoticed

Please make this a priority! Like many folks I suspect, I host video podcast interviews using Zoom or Ecamm. I then need to have each audio track synced to the video for editing before publishing.
I LOVE Descript's filler word removal feature but it doesn't work well for multi-track audio with video.
It would be better if it just silenced the filler words and left the audio track intact. No slicing/splitting. Then, I could bring the audio tracks into Premiere Pro and/or Audition for editing and know the video and audio tracks are still aligned.

I'd suggest adding the option to allow you to put in an adjustable length silence (or maybe I saw another project about room tone) instead of completely removing that word or phrase.
If you have someone that uses 2 or 3 filler words in a sentence and you removes them the sentence tends to sounds sped up. I often go back and then needed to add a beat of time to get it more natural sounding again.
Just a blanket setting where you can type in a time like .5 sec when choosing your filler words would be wonderful.
