Slot-Style Rolling Text Animation

I’d like to suggest a new text animation feature inspired by the rolling motion of casino slot machines.
The idea is that when text appears or changes, letters or numbers would roll vertically into place instead of fading or sliding in. This rolling effect should work at different levels. It should be possible to apply it to individual characters, so each letter or number rolls independently. It should also be possible to apply it to entire words, where the whole word rolls as a single unit. This would be especially useful for numbers, counters, percentages, prices, and other dynamic values.
There should also be an option to control the intensity of the animation. For example, creators could adjust how fast the text rolls, how strong or subtle the motion feels, and whether the effect is smooth or more dramatic.
This kind of animation would add a very distinctive text style that’s currently difficult to create directly inside Descript without external tools. It would work particularly well for explainer videos, social media content, product demos, and visuals where changing numbers need to feel dynamic and intentional.
I’ve attached an example created in Canva to show the general direction and behavior of the effect.
