I want to use the voice of my best friend that died in 2012 to narrate some of his written material. His widow will give consent. Is that acceptable?

Today we launched an improved search feature that let's you batch delete / ignore whatever you search for. Should do the trick for you, let us know what you think!

Andrew Mason: Worked great. Thank you.

Andrew Mason:The batch delete (or ignore) works great. One thing I noticed, however, is that the "you know" delete does not seem to smooth as well as the deleting the preset filler words. I find myself having to fade in/fade out after the "you knows" where I no longer have to do that with the ums and uhs

Also, would it be relevant to bundle in finding and filtering out repeat words here? "I, I, I..." "the...the...the.." I find this is really common.

+1 on this. I'm thinking customizable filler word presets. User can add popular phrases in. I find different people use different fillers. With enough users plugging in these fillers, you'll build up a nice crowdsourced list of the most common ones and can auto-suggest.
Also, what about filtering out fillers like sucking teeth? I'm thinking in the context of a verbal tick, not the cultural "expressing disapproval" sound. The former is shorter and less annunciated than the latter.

Oh god yes please. Didn't realise how often I say 'You Know' in interviews. It's embarrassing.

We don't currently have a one-click way to delete all your "you knows", but here's a video I threw together showing you how to do it: https://help.descript.com/en/articles/3689133-find-and-remove-words
Basically just repeat "option+G" -> click 75 times.
We're working on expanding disfluency detection to include things like "like" and "you know," it's just a little tricker to do well because whether they're filler words is contextual. The other thing we'll probably add soon is the ability to batch delete / ignore / copy find results.

Andrew Mason: Yes please. Adding this to the Find/Replace function would be so awesome. Dealing with an instance now. 248 occurrences of "you know". Please. My fingers are hurting from ALT-G / CMD-G sequence.

Andrew Mason: Huh, this actually is helpful now

Customize-able Filler Words

I would like to be able to chose whatever words I want and have them deleted from the timeline (such as "Right," "You know.") And I would like to be able to highlight sections of the script and only have the words deleted from those sections. Basically, the same as edit/replace, but have it actually delete the audio.
