Support multiple microphones

I use a Scarlett 2i2 box with two mics into one USB on a macbook pro. Other clients detect both mics, but Descript seems to detect only one. This is the one thing keeping me from using Descript to directly record our podcast. (Right now we're recording into GarageBand, and I'm separately importing to Descript as an experiment, but this adds a whole 'nother program to the workflow)

Andrew Mason: Yes! can't wait to try it out.

Chris Ridgeway: I'm using a Scarlett 8i8 and have been having problems getting the new multi-mic feature to work. Has it been working for you and if so, any tips?

David Shifrin: Well, I don't have an 8i8 so don't know on number of channels. We have successfully recorded with the 2i2. A little buggy.
- One or twice Descript has suddenly lost contact, even though the 2i2 will still shows up correctly in Mac audio settings. Has required a restart of the Mac.
- It's inconsistent where it places the recording--for instance, we hit "stop" on one 5 minute segment, and then hit start again, and though the cursor seemed correctly placed, it added the recorded transcript at the beginning... which meant going back later and trying to move around segments to be in the correct order.

Chris Ridgeway: thanks. Despite the difference in number of available channels (although right now I'm only using 2 on the 8i8), it's helpful to know that you are able to record. Even with the bugs, you've made it further than me. Appreciate the detailed explanation, good luck getting it ironed out.

What about multiple instances running at the same time on separate devices if you wanted to distribute Descripts capabilities? I haven't used Descript yet but I'm following this as one of the most promising tools for real time speech-to-text transcription.
