Switching speaker labels should only affect the selected paragraph
shipped
Dan Reyes-Cairo
Currently the default behavior for switching a speaker label is to change the whole speaker group (all paragraphs up until the next labeled speaker begins).
This request is to make the default behavior only affect the selected paragraph which must be done by holding Shift + selecting the new speaker.

This is frequent complaint from my team. If you assign a Speaker to a line of audio it changes the name of the assigned Speaker directly below it. We lose so much time trying to fix this every time we assign a Speaker to a line of audio

So much pain and time wasted not knowing this. Excited to try this on my next edit.

Hold "Shift" to only affect the current paragraph. Will be more clear in tomorrow's release.

Andrew Mason: A suggestion I would make would be to swap the functionality around and to hold "Shift" when you want to affect the speaker group, while just changing it without shift will affect the paragraph people want to change. If that is the updated you guys are making, I'd be very pleased

Stop changing the speaker

I really dislike how I change the speaker and Descript keeps changing it back to the wrong person. Once I edit that, it should stick to that person.

Fully agree!

yeah, seems very buggy to me too!

Stop swapping the speakers that weren't selected
Nenyi Keborku
I've noticed that when ever I click on a speaker name to swap it due to description choosing the wrong speaker for the voice, it ends up not only swapping the speaker I selected but the one below it as well. Then when I go to swap the one below it changes the one below that as well etc .
This gets really frustrating pretty quickly when editing my transcripts.

Nenyi Keborku - this is expected behavior. If you only want to swap the one paragraph, you can hold the Shift button while clicking the label for the new speaker. More information on this can be found in our help center article: https://help.descript.com/hc/en-us/articles/360042210972-Speaker-Labels

Speaker detection boundary bug
Julian Harris
Hi I'm repeatedly correcting speaker detection errors where a couple of syllables / words are attributed to the wrong speaker. This is ok, but what is less ok is that it then changes it back! So I'm stuck with incorrect attribution.
