Text Colours and Animations
Shelley Holmes
Hi
I've been a long-term user of Screenflow and I'm trying to use Descript more and more (because I love Studio Sound - and how easy scenes are to create) ... but
Here is what is driving me nuts right now ...
1) Animations (I don't do crazy animations with text but I do find the animations currently in Descript sorely lacking in comparison). I suspect if you brought in some of the transitions that we can use from scene to scene into the text builds that would suffice (e.g. cross fade in/etc. At the moment the text transitions you have look amateurish and push the text all over the scene and I feel like I'm back in a 1990s horror powerpoint slide show :(
2) I want to sometimes put in a title that has the first letter in a much larger font size and a different colour - currently not able to do that - which makes me scurry back to Screenflow then upload in to Descript. For example, look at their titles and text and draw inspiration from that - Screenflow are a long way from perfect, but they do, do this better than you right now :) )
That will do for now - I'm sure I have more :)) but these are the two things that have driven me nuts today :)

Text Transitions and Animations and ability to rotate text

Being able to animate text captions in and out, as well as grow and being able to rotate individual text words would be awesome.

I would like to add my support here. Specially having controls to decide if the aminations are applied to the paragraph, word or letters. For examples of what I am saying I would suggest looking at the text animation features of Create Studio. Although it is possible in many other places like Canva, etc. I think it would be most helpful if this feature could be part of all kinds of text, e.g., in element: the features of text, subtitle, and title; in live text: marker title etc; in addition to captions. Text animations are necessary for any information heavy material. Hope this happens soon. Thanks.

Simple 'fly in from left, right, top, bottom' would be easier and quicker than keyframes

Adrian: Agreed. Easier and better animation. I lose so much time with this.

Would be awesome if there was a default typewriter animation style for text. Adds a lot of production value to text and should be super simple to do. Hope to see this soon!
