Fix UK English as a main language option (not regional)
J
Jeremy Godwin
The new 'regional language' option added on November 13, 2025 really doesn't help for editing the main transcript; I'm still finding I have to go through and manually correct all the American spellings one by one which is madness when you consider that UK English is the primary language for the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, which is well over 100 million people, not to mention being a main language in many other Commonwealth nations like India, Pakistan, and parts of the Caribbean. Please fix it to be a main language option rather than forcing only American spelling onto everyone using English.

Only the USA spells English words "incorrectly". That means that all English speakers in the UK, Australia, Canada, South Africa.... and all Europeans who learn English etc. spell words the British English way. Please add a British English transcription option. Very important! It's like having French but only offering Quebecois spellings, instead of French French. Makes no sense!

Really need this please! I cant understand why you are ignoring all the people on here asking for this. The USA is not the only country in the world - fyi

It's so frustrating not to have a dictionary option. It's very unprofessional for me to deliver a transcript with US spelling when we are based in Australia. Surely this basic function that has been requested for years should be easy to deliver?

Would it be possible to have a setting where we can switch the dictionary Descript uses to British or Australian English instead of American English? That way we don't have to go through each transcript and change "labor" to "labour", "realize" to "realise", "mold" to "mould", etc.

Not a dealbreaker, but to not worry about transcriptions having British English spelling would be really helpful :)

Pronunciation of currency correctly

Currently writing £10.99 speaks "Ten pounds ninety nine cents". This is incorrect. It should be "pence", however the addition of "pence" is not usually required. Option to remove the suffix?
