Undo history
Frederick Brummer
I'd like to be able to see a list of available undos, like Photoshop's "History" feature.
Currently, say I delete something by mistake, then do some more work, then notice I've made an error, it's hard to undo it because every time I type command-z i just get a message like "undo delete", but pretty much all my actions are deletes, and it's really hard to tell which one is the right one.
So, with that in mind, each entry in the history list should contain some context, ie, "Deleted '[deleted text]'.
It would also be good to see whether a history state was from the Editing media or Correcting text mode

Version history sucks
Jay Ojibwe
I recently needed to revert back to on older edit. With only the timestamp to go by makes it so time consuming to figure out where things went wrong. Also the preview shows no indication of what was changed. Come on Descript help us out here! I don't have time to blindly fumble for hours to figure out how far I have to go back.

Action History / Undo Panel

Can we have a Action History or Undo Panel where you can see a list of recent actions, similar to the Undo/Redo history panels in MS Word, Photoshop, etc.?
Sometimes while editing, you notice something changed on the screen and may not be sure what caused it or how many steps back you need to go to undo. Right now, the only option is to keep hitting Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z and checking the tiny “Undo/Redo XYZ” popups to figure out what happened.
This happens several times in any video edit and often enough to be disruptive.
I’m aware of Version History under the File menu, but that only shows autosave points, not the individual actions or what actually changed.

This would be super-helpful as I edit!

A much needed feature that is currently missing... Change History!!!
Szymon Jędrzejewski
In my opinion, the program lacks a very important function, which is a chronological list of changes/edits that have been made in the program. There should be such a list to be able to undo the changes made in the project and know exactly what has been rolled back. Currently, I can hit undo a few times... but at some point I can't remember what I'm changing. Such an accurate list of changes made would make it easier to go back in editing. Graphic programs have such a thing.

Would be great to understand and see this like Photoshop! any news on this ?

Show Version does not show my clipboard or undo history. You have to toggle through and try to discern what's what. A more descriptive undo would be helpful.

I just realized this already exists under "View > Show Version History"
Adam Gordon
Frederick Brummer: as MD mentioned, it doesn't exist. The view version history applies to the entire project, not just one composition and only shows timestamped autosaves for the entire project. You can restore the project to a point in time in the past. It doesn't show any detail about individual edits to a composition.
And there is no way to restore just a single composition to a prior state. We've started making copies during editing for this reason.
