WARNING when about to lose hours
Joseph Friedlander
It would be a very good idea for the same transcription activity window that gives transcription activity would give a clear YOU HAVE X HOURS LEFT THIS MONTH ON YOUR PLAN AND THEY WILL BE LOST AT THE END OF THE MONTH. I think the pricing is fair but a lot of people hate what they regard as upselling or limits not made explicit on the pricing page where it did say a limit per month but did not make explicit the loss of hours or that you couldn't 'bunch' use according to demand at certain parts of the year. https://www.descript.com/pricing
I certainly think server time and transcription promptness is a real consideration from your point of view and therefore it is quite reasonable you give user cautionary feedback in the software
Example: (because you are over 30 hours for this month but below your yearly limit, your transcript will be processed but at low priority. Repeatedly exceeding this limit will result in...Users who regularly exceed their monthly transcription rate limit will automatically be charged $0.05/minute of recorded audio for overages. )
But if so the pricing page should probably indicate that before signup.
If senior management wants my personal opinion on the policy, I think this is too complicated and will tick off too many people. I would change the policy to a "cruise till you run out of paid hours but be aware if you are over your quota per month you go to the end of the line for server priority" Which I would guess most people looking at the current wording of the pricing page would assume is the situation.
Also if you maintain the current policy that says Users who regularly exceed their monthly transcription rate limit will automatically be charged $0.05/minute of recorded audio for overages.
then strongly recommend you have a popup warning say at 80% (for 30 hours a month, at 24 hours) saying that. Otherwise it will feel very sudden and punitive. People are usually concentrating on their workflow, and will run into that by surprise.

Transcription Limit Warning
Daniel Martinez Stahl
Please add a pop-up warning or something similar that lets us know the requested file will exceed the period's transcription limit.
Given that the system does not have an easy way to track our transcription time per period (for annual contracts), at least a warning that the requested file will exceed the monthly limit would be very useful.
Thank you,
Lots of Love, Daniel 🙂❤️
