Underlord updates—context, chat history, and improved edit review
Add context

Underlord now lets you pin specific parts of your project directly to a request. Click the
@-button
in the Underlord chat panel to open the context picker and attach files, scenes, timestamps, or individual layers before you describe what you want done. This is most useful in complex projects where Underlord might otherwise have trouble knowing what you're referring to. Instead of describing the scene, just attach it.
How to find it
- Open a project and open the Underlord panel
- Type @in the chat input
- Select files, scenes, timestamps, or layers from the picker
- Add your request and send
Chat history
Your Underlord conversations now persist. Refreshing the page, navigating away, or switching projects no longer wipes your chat. When you come back to a project, Underlord picks up where you left off.
Past conversations are accessible from the Underlord panel, listed in reverse chronological order and auto-titled based on their contents. You can browse older chats and reuse prompts that worked well — useful for complex projects where you've built up a lot of context with Underlord over multiple sessions.
A few details on how it works:
- Per-user, per-project.Chat history is scoped to you and the project you're in. Collaborators on the same project can't see your chats.
- Older chats are read-only.You can view past conversations but can only continue chatting (and rolling back) from your current open chat.
- Syncs across browsers and devices, web and desktop.
- New chat buttonremains available if you want a fresh start.
How to find it
- Open any project and open the Underlord panel
- Your previous conversation loads automatically
- To browse older chats, look for the chat history list at the top of the panel
Improved edit reviews
We've added an automatic review step after every Underlord editing turn. After Underlord makes a change, a second pass checks the diff against what you actually asked for, looking specifically for things like unintended deletions, edits that missed their target, overcorrections, or operations that went out of scope. If something looks wrong, Underlord is re-invoked automatically to fix it.
You don't interact with this directly—it runs in the background. The practical effect is fewer cases where Underlord does something technically correct but contextually wrong.
New file format support
Descript now imports a significantly wider range of media formats. These were selected based on how frequently they were hitting unsupported file errors, from most to least common:
- MKV / Matroska— a general-purpose container; Descript now supports all the codecs inside MKV that it already handles in other formats
- AVIF images— the AV1-based image format, now widely available across major browsers
- Opus audio(.opus) — OGG container with Opus codec, common in web audio and recordings
- Raw AAC(.aac) — ADTS container format, reasonably common
- WebM— with VP8 and VP9 video and Opus audio; the open-source format promoted by Google and used widely on YouTube
- Multi-channel / surround audio— 5.1 and other surround files are now accepted. By default they're downmixed to stereo. You can also split the channels into individual mono clips inside the app.
Workspaces, Drive sidebar, and Settings redesigns

The main navigation areas of Descript have a new look. Workspaces are cleaner and easier to move around in, the Drive sidebar has been reorganized for faster scanning, and Settings has been restructured so related controls are grouped more logically.

Enterprise drives now have access to Custom Workspaces, so larger teams can organize projects into tailored spaces (e.g., by department or initiative), with clearer navigation and less clutter as your Drive grows.
Improved transcription with ElevenLabs Scribe v2
Scribe v2 is now the default transcription model across all supported languages. It outperformed our other models in testing, resulting in fewer corrections per minute and fewer capitalization fixes.
What changed:
- Automaticmode now routes to Scribe v2 (previously Rev v2 for English, now Scribe v2 for all languages)
- The model pickernow shows real model names:Automatic,Scribe v2, andRev v2
- British English: Scribe v2 uses American English spelling. To get British spelling, select Rev v2 from the model picker
See Automatic transcription and Supported transcription languages for more.
GPT Image 2 in image generation

- Choose Image, then open theModeldropdown
- Select GPT Image 2
