We've had tools to do this automatically for 15 years. Crazy that we have to do it manually in Descript.

fix how descript cuts off words when underlord deletes dead air

I often like to speed up videos by 5% or 10%, but the audio sounds pretty horrible when I do that. So, I have to export the final project and then speed it up in iMovie, which is kind of lame.

New section in the stock media browser showing the last 20 recently used visual or audio items, so users can quickly reuse assets without re-searching.

I can't shorten them all to the same length - I have to manually skip them. Would be great to be able to specify the upper bound of the gap length. It would be even better, if I could specify the speed multiplicator (eg. 2x), so result sounds more natural and variable.

The scroll bar at the bottom of the screen, is so tiny and difficult to see, it's nearly impossible to scroll through the timeline horizontally. The Descript scroll bars are for some reason at least half, if not more, smaller than regular websites scroll bars.

Show social media safe zones on the canvas and in the export menu as overlays, so creators can avoid placing important visuals where platform UI (captions, profile pics, buttons) will cover them. Captured during Telethon 2026.

I'm a disability representation consultant and ALL the pre-made caption formats are inaccessible. I've created my own, but every time I make a new project, I have to either re-create all of my parameters, or go into an old project, copy my caption style, go back into my current project, and paste my caption style. Make it so you can save your own pre-made formats.

Be able to use up and down buttons to adjust speed.

Since moving to Descript from other editing software, this is the biggest pain point that I am surprised is not addressed: If I copy something in the timeline (like an image) - or copy something from another descript project - I should be able to paste that thing into my project at the playhead location. Right now it (mostly - sometimes unpredictable) gets pasted at the start of a scene. Pasting at the playhead location in the timeline is a basic functionality that I got used to with tools like imovie and logic pro. Would love to have it in Descript.
