If there was a way to auto-mute hosts and guests when they aren't speaking, it would make the clarity of recordings much better and save a lot of editing time.

Since moving to Descript from other editing software, this is the biggest pain point that I am surprised is not addressed: If I copy something in the timeline (like an image) - or copy something from another descript project - I should be able to paste that thing into my project at the playhead location. Right now it (mostly - sometimes unpredictable) gets pasted at the start of a scene. Pasting at the playhead location in the timeline is a basic functionality that I got used to with tools like imovie and logic pro. Would love to have it in Descript.

We've had tools to do this automatically for 15 years. Crazy that we have to do it manually in Descript.

For example, if one speaker is sounding quite tinny, I could adjust their levels across the whole track by pinning that effect to the speaker label, so it would only affect their portions. I can't even begin to explain how much time this would save me!

Rather than importing one file at a time, it would be nice to import an entire folder. I keep all the packaging elements for different shows in their own folder, and being able to import with one click would be nice.

Sometimes I have multiple video files but only a single audio file. Since Descript has the ability to detect speakers based on voice alone, it would be great to pair this with the auto multicam feature, meaning we don't need separate isolated audio tracks to use it.

Files that have been generated or imported to projects should be accessible via the Media panel, so we can easily pick and reuse media assets, such as images, video clips, music, and audio clips..

We highly use the transcript to generate show notes, full transcript and an episode page. I edit the transcript and add (notes) to add urls to embed on the word previous…. I ended up building some app Tao take the transcript rtf to generate these pastes but it would be a lot better if I could embed a url is some way and hey even some formatting and extra content to the script to generate these transcripts to multi purpose it.
