Let me set the transition setting once and then toggle to keep them the same for the rest of the Project/Composition. ex. I set Color Dip to .5s and a red Hex code once. Now all future uses of Color Dip keeps those settings. Same for Ken Burns - change default to Zoom In up and to the right. This would be killer with the new transitions coming.

If there was a way to auto-mute hosts and guests when they aren't speaking, it would make the clarity of recordings much better and save a lot of editing time.

Since moving to Descript from other editing software, this is the biggest pain point that I am surprised is not addressed: If I copy something in the timeline (like an image) - or copy something from another descript project - I should be able to paste that thing into my project at the playhead location. Right now it (mostly - sometimes unpredictable) gets pasted at the start of a scene. Pasting at the playhead location in the timeline is a basic functionality that I got used to with tools like imovie and logic pro. Would love to have it in Descript.

Show social media safe zones on the canvas and in the export menu as overlays, so creators can avoid placing important visuals where platform UI (captions, profile pics, buttons) will cover them. Captured during Telethon 2026.

fix how descript cuts off words when underlord deletes dead air

For example, if one speaker is sounding quite tinny, I could adjust their levels across the whole track by pinning that effect to the speaker label, so it would only affect their portions. I can't even begin to explain how much time this would save me!

We've had tools to do this automatically for 15 years. Crazy that we have to do it manually in Descript.

Plase add support more more languages to the sound editing features, such as edit for clarity, remove filler words, retakes, shorten word gaps, etc.
