Since you are moving towards more AI help in our workflow, in the future, if AI could suggest from all the available libraries the right B-Roll for the scenes we are active in, that would be amazing.

I just downloaded app an hour ago. Look, you are advertising a lot of cool features on your website. On first launch the app shows a windows with big buttons to test them. I tried Eye Contact demo and it was great! With short video tour. However when I open the app now I have a list of projects instead. When I open my project it is just empty screen. I have video text, video preview, "Scene" sidebar and that's all. Where are all these cool features now? Do I need to google for every single feature you have to try them? Try it yourself. Can you open a new project and point your own finger at screen to show me where are all these features? Where are they? I would be totally satisfied having some top panel with big colorful buttons with pictures. One button for each breaking feature. The same panel as Word or Excel have you know, they developed it like 10 years ago. "Add captions", "Add eye contact" etc... At some point I will disable this panel of course. However at first test launch a panel should be definitely there.

Please add tabs so that we can so that we can switch between different source documents while assembling a podcast. If I've got at least 3 or 4 different sources that I'm assembling audio from I have to have a bunch of windows open to jump back and forth between my timeline and the transcripts. Having tabs would streamline the interface and workflow. Thank you!

When editing in Descript, the video preview and timeline share the same screen space, which makes it hard to focus on detailed timeline edits while still checking playback. I often find myself repeatedly resizing or switching views just to see how changes reflect in the preview. It would be really helpful to have the option to isolate or detach the video preview into a fixed side panel (similar to CapCut’s layout), so the timeline can stay maximized while the preview remains visible at all times. This would make editing faster and more comfortable, especially for fine-tuning cuts and timing.

Hello Descript Support Team, I’m using Descript regularly for long-form video projects and podcasts, and I’m running into two recurring workflow issues that significantly slow down production. I’m hoping there may already be a solution—or that these can be considered as feature improvements. ⸻ Locking Avatar Size & Aspect Ratio Across a Project When I insert my avatar (image or video), its size and shape are inconsistent: • Sometimes it appears long and horizontal • Other times it appears as a small circular avatar • The avatar preview often shows in the lower-right area, but I must manually resize and reposition it repeatedly What I’m looking for: • A way to lock the avatar’s size, aspect ratio, and position for the entire project • Ideally, a project-level or scene-level setting so every new section uses the same avatar dimensions automatically • Similar to a “style lock” or “template” behavior This would be extremely helpful for consistency in branded content and AI-avatar–based videos. ⸻ Locking Text Colors Per Speaker I frequently work with two speakers, and I want each speaker’s text to always appear in a specific color. Right now: • I must manually change the text color every time a speaker talks • This becomes very time-consuming in longer projects What I’m looking for: • A way to assign a default text color to each speaker • Once assigned, all future text from that speaker automatically uses the selected color • Ideally saved at the project level, similar to speaker labeling This would dramatically improve clarity, accessibility, and editing speed. ⸻ Why This Matters These two features would: • Save significant editing time • Improve visual consistency across long projects • Make Descript much more powerful for professional, branded, multi-speaker workflows If there are existing workarounds, templates, or beta features that support this, I’d love to know. I preferred the feature in Descript Classic for fade in/fade out. While in the new update, it's extremely hard to maintain a fast workflow while struggling to hover over a floating circle, especially when I mostly use the blade function and do not toggle into the other tools often. I've found that hovering the tip of the blade does not bring the fade option up, but the center of the blade which is extremely frustrating to locate. The option to hand extend clips is also very narrow so I often make cuts instead of being able to fade and extend clips. Would love a shortcut like ProTools to fade in/out at cursor.

The automatic layout is no longer working. It defaults to 16 by 9, even though we upload portrait mode for shorts, and there's no way to set it up so that we can automatically do that. This is pretty darn stupid.. Is there any way you could put that back in there?

With the focus shifting to video, please consider moving the search results box next to the transcript window. There is so much space between the transcript and the search query window, and then the results box all the way on the right hand side. This is especially true for people working with large, widescreen monitors. Or you know, you can just make all the windows movable and let us setup the screen however we want. But let's just start with moving the results window to the left hand side.

I'm working remote and the playback is horrible, I'm so used to lightning fast internet at home, but it feels like ya'll have not tested the product on slower connections. Even when I'm not playing a video, just trying to edit the transcript, it will spin for 30 seconds or more. I really wish you brought back the local versions for people in this situation.
