Feature Requests

We are a production company, and both record and edit podcasts for our clients. We've had a look of feedback that many of our clients have to use Riverside to record because is by far more stable and faster for recording, but edit in Descript. They have tried Squadcast - and haven't been impressed. Can you please build a more robust, better recording front end so we can use a single platform? We (and they) would pay more!

Please allow for default video resolution and frame rate settings in Rooms. Currently, this defaults to UltraHD and 30fps. These must be changed EACH time you start a new recording. I’d like to set the default for what my client needs, set it and forget it, because they handle their own recordings and are notorious for forgetting to change these settings before hitting record. Thank you!

I can no longer record the menu bar with Descript for some reason. This is essential for my screen recordings. I love the Descript Rooms. The interface is clean, there are no distractions. Much akin to Zoom in that respect. However, when my podcast participants leave the room the recording shuts off. That is a huge problem. Can this be fixed so it is more akin to the way RiversideFM works. I would much rather use Descript Rooms than Riverside.

This is the most basic feature in any screen recorder I've used in my 30 years of career. The fact that there is no option like that baffles me. Right now, I need to wait until it's uploaded and being processed (which sometimes takes minutes) in order to discard a video and then I'm stuck. So what I'm doing is I'm deleting the project entirely which is another waste of my time because I need to start from scratch. That doesn't make any sense at all. Not only that, by allowing discarding videos that the user already knows he won't want to use, descript is actually saving compute time and money. In general, all of the screen recording related stuff seems like an afterthought that no one really thought through. For example, why is there no keyboard shortcut for pausing and unpausing a recording?

As a paying member for years, you are making so many disruptive changes that I literally want to cancel. As soon as I get used the interface for recording, editing, you change it again. This is a poor business model and honestly pisses me off. You select a small group of beta testers, test the new layout for 3 months and then ANNOUNCE THE RELEASES and ask us if we want to go back to legacy view. This is outrageous for a company your size to make changes and not even give paying members an option to go back to legacy SO WE CAN GET BACK TO WORK!! Do you understand how disfunctional that is? STOPP!!!!!! Or I'm moving to Loom and will make COUNTLESS videos about this annoyance on my Tiktok and youtube channels. Be professional!!!!

Would be nice to have the option before transcription starts. Sometimes I break wind and laugh during the recording. 🤣💨

A guest dropped out before recording had completed uploading. I assumed wrongly that his backup would be in the cloud. I have just learnt that if I'd got him back on the link within 7 days, I could have completed the upload. There was no yellow warning box on his track
